What was recalled
This recall involves Louisville and Featherlite brand Attic Stairways with Gas Struts and ¼ inch chrome-colored spreader bolts. Consumers should have the model number, which can be found on the inside of the attic door, available when they register.
Why it was recalled
The 1/4-inch chrome-colored bolts used in the spreader assembly on Louisville and Featherlite attic stairways manufactured on or before June 22, 2026, may not meet Louisville Ladder Corp.'s design specifications, posing a potential injury hazard.
As of July 24, 2026, the company has received 1 report of an incident and no reports of injuries in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 11 reports of incidents and 1 report of an injury.
What to do
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product and contact Louisville Ladder Corp. to obtain a free repair kit. Consumers with the affected units will receive a free repair kit containing two replacement ¼ inch spreader bolts, washers, and lock nuts with installation instructions.
