What was recalled
Fifteen fragrances by various brands sold by Savers Health and Beauty stores. The fragrances have butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA/lilial) and/or hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde included on the ingredients label on the packaging of the product.
Why it was recalled
The products present a serious chemical risk as they contain butylphenyl methylpropional (BMHCA/lilial) and/or hydroxyisohexyl 3-cyclohexene carboxaldehyde. Both chemicals are prohibited in cosmetic products. BMHCA may harm the reproductive system, may harm the health of the unborn child, and may cause skin sensitisation.
The products do not meet the requirements of Regulation (EC) 1223/2009 (‘The Cosmetics Regulation’).
What to do
Affected products have been recalled by Savers Health and Beauty.
Customers should return any of the above products purchased at a Savers store to the place of purchase, where they will be issued a full refund.
