What was recalled

This recall involves GIANT bicycle locks supplied with an LED key. The LED key contains two CR1220 lithium manganese dioxide button/coin cell batteries.

Why it was recalled

The LED key supplied with the affected bicycle locks contains two CR1220 lithium manganese dioxide button/coin cell batteries. The button/coin cell batteries may become accessible from the LED key. If swallowed or inserted into the body, button/coin cell batteries can cause serious internal injuries. The identified hazard is associated with the LED key only. The bicycle lock itself is not affected. Keys supplied with the SureLock bicycle lock other than the LED key are not affected and remain functional.

As of September 4, 2026, the company has received no reports of incident or injury in Canada or the United States.

What to do

Consumers should immediately stop using the LED Key (the recalled product) accompanying the SureLock Bicycle Lock and return it to a GIANT retailer for a partial refund.

For more information, consumers can contact GIANT by telephone at 604-987-3600, 8 am to 5 pm PT, Monday to Friday, by email at [email protected] or visit the company website.
